Jeremy Coleman 

HEAD COACH

Coach Jeremy Coleman will be entering his 1st year as Head Coach of the NOVA Bulls of the East Coast Basketball League in 2023. He has over 13 years of coaching experience serving at both the high school and collegiate level with stops at Oakton High School in Vienna, VA; Battlefield High School in Haymarket, VA; Osbourn Park High School in Manassas, VA; and Hagerstown Community College in Hagerstown, MD.

 

Coach Coleman began his career as a 9th Grade Head Coach and Varsity Assistant at Oakton, where he focused on guard development and team conditioning. He then spent seven years at Battlefield High School where Coach Coleman helped lead Battlefield to three regional championship appearances in six years in which the Bobcats won two in 2016 and 2018, seven consecutive appearances in the Conference Tournament Championship, and two appearances in the Virginia State 6A Semi-Finals. Additionally, Coleman spent 1 year as an Assistant Coach at Hagerstown Community College in Hagerstown, MD where he was in charge of player development and Northern Virginia Recruiting. During his time at Osbourn Park, Coleman led the Yellow Jackets to their only VHSL regional tournament appearance in over 20 years. 

Over his career, Coach Coleman has assisted 15 young men in continuing their basketball career in college, many of whom were on scholarship; and coached multiple all-conference performers including three players of the year. 

 

Coach Coleman is a graduate of James Madison University, works professionally as an IT Program Manager, is an Ordained Minister, and is married to the former LaToya King.

 

Coach Coleman believes that it is our duty to leave a person, place, or thing in better shape than you found it. 


Larry Hinton

ASSOCIATE HEAD COACH

Larry Hinton is an inspirational leader for the NOVA Bulls Semi-Pro Team. His life story exemplifies the power of dedication and hard work. Born in 1950 in Baltimore, Maryland, Larry played baseball at Coppin State College from 1968 to 1972. In 1971 he pledged to Kappa Alpha Psi and went on to graduate with a degree in sociology in 1973. He then went on to receive a master's degree in criminal justice from the same school in 1975.


From 1975-79, Larry was teaching physical education and coached basketball in the Baltimore City school system, while simultaneously earning his master’s degree. In 1981 he joined the Federal Bureau of Investigation as a special agent, where he remained until his retirement in 2008.


Since then, Larry has devoted himself to officiating, coaching, and training athletes of all ages. His work with the NOVA Bulls Semi-Pro Team is a testament to his commitment to helping others reach their potential. He believes that success comes from dedication and hard work, an attitude that permeates every aspect of the team’s operations. His long and varied career gives Larry a wealth of experience and knowledge to bring to this important role with the NOVA Bulls.


Larry Hinton is an example for anyone who dreams of making it big in the sports world. His dedication, hard work, and positive attitude serve as invaluable asset to the NOVA Bulls Semi-Pro Team.                                       


Sean Moriarty

ASSISTANT COACH

Sean Moriarty, a devoted husband and father of three girls, is a man with an impressive background in education, sports, and community outreach. Sean's passion for basketball started during his college career at Belmont Abbey College, where he played D2 basketball. He even has a favorite current player, the high-flying Russell Westbrook, whose tenacity and skills on the court inspire Sean. When Sean isn't busy coaching the NOVA Bulls Semi-Pro Basketball Team, he can be found out and about, exploring the beautiful scenery with his family.  Sean's wanderlust spirit has taken him across the US and even abroad, where he has immersed himself in different cultures and experiences.


While Sean loves traveling and exploring new cultures, he also likes to kick back and relax with his family, enjoying delicious food and the latest movies. His favorite meal? A classic slice of pizza, of course. On the professional front, Sean has dedicated himself to helping others. As a sales rep securing civilian IT jobs for veterans, Sean plays a pivotal role in ensuring a smooth transition for these brave individuals. And as the Assistant Coach for the NOVA Bulls Semi-Pro Basketball Team, Sean continues to chase his passion for basketball while giving back to his community.


He earned his Bachelor's Degree in History and went on to pursue a Master's in Business, which has equipped him with the skills and knowledge to thrive in his career. With an impressive background and a heart full of ambition, Sean Moriarty is a force to be reckoned with. Whether he's juggling family life, coaching a basketball team, or creating opportunities for veterans, Sean approaches everything with a wry sense of humor and unwavering professionalism.

Michael Johnson 

ASSISTANT COACH/RECRUITING COORDINATOR

Michael Jeffrey Johnson, more commonly known as Coach Mike Checks, is of Ghanaian American descent. Growing up, he was always interested in helping others develop and reach their potential. This led him to pursue a career in coaching.


In his spare time, Coach Mike enjoys spending time with his family and watching sports (especially basketball). His favorite food is Jollof Rice, and he's a huge fan of LeBron James! He has over 5 years of coaching experience at the high school and semi-pro levels. Currently, Coach Mike serves the community as a Recruiting Coordinator and Assistant Coach for the NOVA Bulls Semi-Pro Team. Additionally, he is the Co-founder of Get A Bucket, LLC., which provides basketball skill development services for youths around Northern Virginia.


Coach Mike Checks is truly an inspirational figure who has dedicated his life to helping young people reach their full potential. He has helped countless individuals develop their basketball skills, as well as build character and self-confidence. He is an outstanding example of someone who truly cares about the success of others and works hard to make a difference in their lives. We are lucky to have him in our community!

Treyon Crawford

RECRUITING COORDINATOR

Treyon Rashad Crawford, known as Coach Trey to many, has been around basketball his entire life. His grandfather, Ronald Robinson, was inducted into the Michigan State Basketball Hall of Fame and he has passed down his love for the game to Treyon. As a player, Treyon starred at Hylton Highschool in Woodbridge VA for two years as their varsity point guard. He then went on to play at Norfolk State University where he was part of the practice squad.


Coach Trey is currently an assistant coach/recruiting coordinator for the NOVA Bulls Organization and is pursuing an Accounting degree. In addition to coaching, Coach Trey founded Get a Bucket LLC., which provides fundamental basketball instruction to players of all ages. He has a true love and passion for the game that is unmatched. He believes that basketball is an art form and enjoys teaching players how to be creative with the ball. When he's not working on his business or coaching basketball, you can find him at the movies or spending time with family and friends.


Coach Trey's ultimate goal is to give back to the game that has given him so much, by helping others reach their basketball potential.
